George Partasides, currently serving as the Commercial Counselor of Cyprus in Dubai and acting as the IRENA focal point, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the field of energy and technology. He is also a member of the Long-Term Strategy (LTS) team of IRENA, contributing significantly to the Ministry of Energy’s responsibilities, including Energy Planning and the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP).
In his current capacity, plays a pivotal role in supporting the Office of the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry. Simultaneously, he is actively engaged in several vital projects and studies aimed at advancing energy initiatives. These encompass the development of a Digital One Stop Shop, designed to expedite the licensing procedures for Renewable Energy Projects. He is also spearheading efforts related to the Energy Storage Support Scheme and overseeing various studies pertaining to offshore Renewable Energy Projects and Pumped Storage. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies within the Climate and Energy Division of The Cyprus Institute, focusing on the innovative concept of “Energy as a Service” (EaaS) within the context of Cyprus, with a particular emphasis on empowering active consumers.
With a profound understanding of energy modeling tools and studies, he played a pivotal role in coordinating a comprehensive network dynamical analysis study of the entire Cyprus Electricity Grid, with the support of TSOCy, JRC, and DigSilient. Additionally, he is responsible for conducting impact analyses of the various support schemes introduced by the Cyprus government within the energy sector. George Partasides is renowned for his passion for technology, with concurrent engagements in software tools and cloud computing technologies.
